Frank Zappa is being resurrected as a hologram, will tour

Frank Zappa passed away over a decade ago after a long battle with cancer, but is currently prepping a comeback — that is, as a hologram. Like Andy Kaufman, Selena, and Ronnie James Dio before him, the late Zappa will soon go on “tour” to “play” for audiences thanks to the wonders of technology.

As a press statement details, the Zappa Family Trust has partnered up with production company EyeIlusion for this new venture. The proposed tour is expected to see the Zappa hologram perform alongside some of his past bandmates, including Steve Vai, Adrian Belew, Ian Underwood, and Arthur Barrow. Angel Olsen has announced a new collection of rarities, titled Phases.

Out November 10 on Jagjaguwar, the album comprises demos spanning the US star’s career to date – from her 2010 minimal folk EP Strange Cacti up to last year’s triumphant My Woman album – and features a number of never-before-released tracks.

It’s Modular Day at FACT! We’re marking the first birthday of our Make Music section with a celebration of modular synths, the artists that use them and the music they make.

A year ago, we launched Make Music, a section on FACT dedicated to the music creation process. From the cult of the TR-808 drum machine to the growing community of artists making music on their iPad, the culture around the ways we make music has become just as important as the music itself, and we wanted to help demystify the process behind your favorite tracks.

Since we launched, the response has been huge. You love music, but you also love making music.
